“I think the people hoping for a lesbian princess need to be reminded that Disney movies are aimed at kids. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being gay, but to push the idea at kids before they understand what that means will only confuse them. Also as a parent, I would be pissed at Disney for addressing such controversial topics in a movie intended for children”.

In Disney movies we’ve seen witchcraft, arranged marriages, women being poisoned, chased, forced to act as slaves (Cinderella anyone?), abused verbally and emotionally by their peers and families, we’ve seen them locked up in towers, persecuted for a variety of reasons, kidnapped, traded and essentially sold to the highest bidder.  In Disney movies we’re basically told from an early age that real women wait for their princes, do as their told, allow themselves to be used as property by their families, and that their primary purpose is to wait for a handsome prince to come and sweep them off their feet.
Plenty of Disney movies have controversial content.  But it’s the loving, respectful relationship between 2 women that’s going to push things over the edge?
Get. Fucking. Real.
You know the people on the planet who seem the LEAST confused by homosexual relationships?  Kids.  Why?  Because to a kid… two adults in love is just two adults in love.  You have to TEACH hatred and bigotry.  If you don’t… you end up with children who accept love for what it is— love.
Our children will not be confused… YOUR children may be.  But maybe the problem there isn’t a nice little Disney story about two women who fall in love… maybe the problem is you.
